History of the Jacksonville Campus

After numerous requests for services in Northern Alabama, The Learning Tree, Inc founded the Jacksonville campus in 1990.  This new campus consisted of a 33,000 sq. ft. building, plus eight acres of land located between Jacksonville and Piedmont Alabama.  Over the next 14 months the building was renovated, creating residential quarters and classroom space.  The living quarters were certified by DMH/MR, and the Jacksonville campus opened in September of 1991 with a capacity of 12 residential students. By year’s end, Jacksonville had students placed by the Louisiana Department of Human Services, Nevada Department of Education, Mississippi Department of Education, Mississippi Department of Human Services and Arizona Department of Education.

In 1994, The Learning Tree Inc. opened its first three person group home in Calhoun County.  Today, Jacksonville serves its clients in 13 beautiful group homes all DMH/MR certified and located within minutes of the main campus.
