Nursing Services
The Learning Tree, Inc. strives to provide the best possible medical care to the residents and students within this program. All residents are scheduled with a pediatrician or general practitioner as their Primary Care Physician, upon entrance into the facility. The Primary Care Physician will oversee the care of the individual, perform an annual physical comprehensive examination, and refer the child to any necessary specialists. Dental visits are scheduled a minimum of twice annually for all residents.
The Learning Tree, Inc. has a nurse on duty for two shifts daily. The nurse is available to address concerns that arise, provide specialized care, provide training of and monitoring for staff who administer medications to residents and students.
The Learning Tree, Inc. adheres to all of the guidelines of the Nurse Delegation Program (a joint development of the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Department of Intellectual Disabilities and the Alabama Board of Nursing). All nurses on staff are Medication Assistant Supervisor (MAS) certified to provide specialized care in this unique residential setting.
